All puppies are weighed daily and below I have plotted grams against weeks.
Just two individuals are shown, along with the average of all 6 puppies:
Growth Rates
Although dogs were growing in the first week, the two bitches hadn’t
recovered their birth weights. All weights showed rapid increase once
bottle feeding commenced at a week old.
From 2 weeks, pups were weighed first thing in the morning, at least 8 hours
after their last bottle-feed, with only suckling overnight.
Baby rice was introduced to their milk after the second week, and by
3 weeks, four had reached 2kg, with Yellow Girl remaining the smallest.
In the forth week puppy milk was supplemented with porridge, and rice pudding
was available in bowls. Although maintaining good growth, Yellow Girl
remained the smallest, and Envy Boy overtook others to become the heaviest.
At five weeks I lost Vine Boy, and worming gave a temporaary glitch in growth,
even though on meat and proprietary puppy kimble had taken over as their
primary food. Yellow and Orange Girls remained smaller than the others
through the fifth and sixth weeks. The average line above was for six
pups, so below I plot the remaining five until they went off scale!
